Back to Southampton Boat Show today with the opportunity to take my time looking round and to walk the complete length of the two kilometres of pontoons built alongside the city's Mayflower Park.
It ranks as Europe's largest outdoor boat show, and judging by what I have seen over the past few days the marine industry remains resilient and continues to grow despite significant headwinds.
You can buy anything here from a canoe or kayak or stand up paddle board for around £300, through to a multi million pound luxury yacht.
Biggest and most expensive at this year's show is a Sunseeker 28 metre , just over 92 ft in length, and built at Poole on the South Coast, which will set you back £4,763,000, plus vat.
The UK leisure, super yacht and small commercial marine industry is reckoned to be worth £2.933 billion a year, and overseas sales account for around £938 million of that at 32 per cent of the total business. Which proves the point that UK trade represents a handsome 68 percent of the industry's demand. Industry pundits say domestic business is up, offsetting tough trading conditions for exporters.
My particular joy today was being able to catch the cruise liner Emperor of the Seas as a magnificent backdrop to activity on the purpose built marina.
