Gently down the stream

Flapping heron

Today I went back to the heron site by the Trout Farm and watercress beds.  I realised I'd chosen a bad moment when I heard the tractor over the road cutting watercress.  No heron, so I walked down to see what the tractor was doing and suddenly not one but a pair of herons shot up from behind the hedge.  This bird stopped off in the watercress momentarily, but you can see how on the alert/in a flap it is and it wouldn't let me get closer, which I'd have liked to do. Goodness, though, they certainly are handsome birds.

I think notowennewitt is hosting another Allotment Sunday (AS03) tomorrow, though you will have to check with him.  I shall certainly try to do something for it.

Have a good evening, all  xx
