Now the day is over .
I was wondering what to put as a title, and suddenly thought of this. One of my favourite hymns.
A busy day.
Started this morning clearing out some of the summer pots which were well past their best. Ready now to plant up with spring bulbs.
Moving a lot more pots from the front of the house, ready for the scaffolding going up next week, so that they can start on the roof.
( a big and expensive job!)
Pulled up the runner beans and sweet peas.
Trimmed back the honeysuckle , and roses from the fence.
MrC repaired the hut. Used a tool belonging to my grandfather to trim a plank of wood.
Still sharpe after all these years, even though it hasn't been cleaned properly, and looks a bit rusty.
They certainly made tools to last in those days. Think it is probably 80 plus years old.
Could hardly straighten my back by lunchtime, and so decided a walk into the village for the morning Yorkshire Post would do me good.
Came back feeling much better, and had an hour sat in the garden reading the paper, and treated myself to a glass of white wine!
Afterwards. made some lemon verbena ice cream .
Also some ratatouille for tea, which went well with the grilled lamb chops.
Blackberry and apple crumble to finish.
MrC was watching the rugby. What a thrilling game between Japan and the Springboks.
I watched the last half hour. Terrific!
Tomorrow we are meeting the walking club for an 8.5 mile walk.
Hope I will feel up to it in the morning.
Hopefully a soak in a hot bath, and an early night should do the trick!
