Beards are back in fashion.

I took a tour of mainly foreign visitors round Kelvingrove this morning. The Glasgow Stories gallery has lots of bits and pieces which interest visitors. This watercolour by WA Donnelly illustrates the opening of the 1888 Exhibition of Science Industry and Art when a very slim looking Prince Of Wales and his wife Alexandra are being shown round by the Lord Provost and another Glasgow dignitary. They all look a bit uncomfortable and nearly all the men had beards!
