Peanut cactus
I have to use the common name for this cactus, Echinopsis chamaecereus, in the title, as I can't italicise it there. I've been playing around with a new camera and a very old Nikon macro lens in the conservatory. At present I'm restricted to shallow depth of field, because i haven't yet worked out how to trigger the shutter for a longer exposure. I'm hoping I'll be able to use my phone rather than acquire a remote. The problem with new cameras is the steep learning curve and huge manual to work through. There are a few things I loved about my E5 that I'll miss for a while, but the great advantage is the massive upgrade in image quality. The photographer is still, of course, the weak link!
I've added the shot of Haworthia pygmaea as an extra. I love the little crystal-like protrusions on this form of the plant.
