Autumn start
Angie has given in and allowed the sitting room fire to be inaugurated for the first time. The daytime weather is simply not measurable. It seems to change by the minute and makes it difficult to know what to wear. For the most part dry though.
Angie did a morning walk & ride before setting off for the dentist for a semi emergency visit as she had a bit of toothache last week. Dentist didn't find a real problem but there are two teeth known to be needing some costly work and he did a detailed check so as to do the paperwork needed to get the state health insurance to take on some of the cost. He gave her the paperwork to send off by post.
In the afternoon I set off for a nearby village to look at a very cheap used digger shovel, a narrow version about 30cm wide compared to the one I have with about 50cm. Useful for laying pipes etc. Turned out to be ideal . Luckily I had taken the horse trailer with a ramp. The shovel is so heavy that one person alone can hardly move it. Luckily the mother of the person selling it was able to help me and somehow we managed to just get it loaded. Then in the next village picked up two 1000 liter rain water tanks, one at least destined for the horses. All the animals (horses, dogs, cats and poultry) prefer rain water to that from the tap. The tanks are the IBC type in metal cages. Second one will be used at least in winter for the garage. Might get some more for other areas where they can be hidden or covered by shrubs/climbers. They are a lot more stable than the standard DIY market plastic tanks which seem to regularly break especially if a frost catches us out.
Angie cooked dinner which tasted even better with the fir on and watching one of the German TV channels broadcasting several films/documentaries about the British royal family.
