Palm trees are affected by killer butterfly grubs
There is a particular butterfly - it sounds like a helicopter so is very distinctive - which lays its eggs in the center of these palm trees. The grubs then feast on the young fronds before they reach the open. Huge efforts are being carried out to try and eradicate the butterfly as many palms are rare and cost a lot of money and garden centers and show gardens are under threat.
