Sheltering from the storm
One thing I'll say about riding across the States on Route 66 is that the weather changes so quickly! It can be fine and sunny one hour, then a few miles down the road you find yourself sheltering under a freeway to avoid coming a' cropper in tornado alley.
After waiting under a freeway for a while we headed to the nearest "gas station" and stood puddling on their lobby floor waiting for the storm to pass...before heading off again in full waterproof mode. We even visited the barbed wire museum - one of the stops that had Billy chuckling. Who knew that there were so many different types and brands of barbed wire, eh?

Today we travelled from Oklahoma along some of the oldest stretches of Route 66 to Amarillo in the Texas panhandle. (And yes, I DID sing "Is this the way to Amarillo" on the back of the bike.)
