Today's the day ....................... to forage

We went out this afternoon to see if we could find sloes in the hedgerows - to make into sloe gin.

We went to our usual place in one of the many hidden lanes of South Lakeland but we were hard put to find many at all.  Those we did find were very small and still quite hard.  Like a lot of plants this year, they are well behind the way they would normally be - so perhaps we'll find more in a few weeks time.

But there were plenty of these little beauties about - ripe for the picking ..........................
