Lookin' Atcha!
Before holding my son's wedding in our garden, a major repair job had to be carried out, which involved re-making a retaining wall and re-laying our whole paved area at the back of the house.
During construction, my old clothesline was discarded, as was the old wooden bird feeding table. Consequently, the birds have very little to land on now, near to the back door.
The magpies have taken to sitting on my kitchen window sill to let me know when they are there, waiting for the "Bird Restaurant" to open, whilst the kookaburras keep watch from afar.
Larry, my old faithful kookaburra friend has a favourite tree right down the back garden, where he perches, watches, and waits. I often see him down there, so I go out onto the veranda with food in hand, and make a clicking noise, which, if it is actually Larry, he responds to immediately, gliding straight from the tree and landing on the veranda post, right beside me.
Today was such a day, although Forrest puppy bounded out the door, with all four legs flying hither and yon, scaring the bejeebers out of poor Larry, who retreated to a nearby palm. A shot of Larry in the palm is in extras.
With Forrest safely behind a closed door, Larry returned to the veranda post, and before his feed, obliged by posing briefly for a few "blips". Also in extras is a photo of Larry, becoming impatient, staring straight at me as if to say, "hurry up woman, I haven't got all day!"
And this coming weekend, with a bit of luck, I will have a new clothesline installed and a replacement feeding table. :)
