Photographers and Gondola's

Even in the quietest parts of Venice there are always photographers and gondola's.

Beautiful Venice - there must not be an inch of it which has not been photographed a thousand times, and if you show your face you can expect to find yourself immortalised in scenes in this amazing place a hundred times in other peoples photographs.

Arriving on Monday armed with 3 day Vaporetto Water Bus passes we explored the city for a second time in five years. With no intent or purpose other than to lose ourselves in the streets and bridges, and to follow our feet. Inevitably our feet lead us to landmarks, the obvious one being St. Marks Square, which is a delight for watching people, but not to be stayed at too long if you don't enjoy crowds.

The heat and humidity was a distraction and soon again we saught the shelter of the shadows of the tall buildings on narrow corridor streets.

An evening meal in a quiet restaurant followed by a few drinks while soaking up the atmosphere of the football match (which Italy won) ended the day.

Tuesday was an early start that was more of the same. We went into the Campanile and St. Marks itself, taking the Vaporetto up the Grand Canal, as well as exploring more back streets and churches.

We ate in the student area of Venice which was lively and chilled out - a great atmosphere and excellent food too. There were scarce places to watch the England Ukraine match but we found somewhere where although too busy to sit inside to watch it, we could hear it from outside, so we drank and tried to interpret the shouts and cries, the oooh's and aaah's, but the call of Roooooooonnney!!!!!!! gave us a clue as to what was happening!

More back blips to come later when I decide which of the hundreds of photo's to use...

Monday's here.
