Herring Gull

Elegant & Herring Gull are two words I would not normal put in the same sentance but this one cavorting in the updraft caused by the wind blowing over our bow was giving the Fulmars a lesson in soaring. It held its position in the flow without so much as a beat of its wings but just extending and pulling in its wings. Hard to believe this is the same bird that is usually seen in towns with its head in a bin/skip.
