Yuri Gagarin

As it was a rare hot sunny day in London, I headed for St James's Park at lunchtime, forgetting that it's all been fenced off ready for the Olympic beach volleyball that'll take place on Horseguards Parade.

As a result I was on the north side of the Mall after going through Admiralty Arch, and came across this statue which I'd never seen before. It's only been there a year, after all.

It reminded me of this picture of him visiting Highgate Cemetary in 1961 - which is just up the road from where I live.
