Restoration
After years languishing in a steam railway scrap yard followed by fund raising and several years of painstaking restoration the Isle of Wight Steam Railway now has a new locomotive, Ivatt Class No. 41298.
Today was the engine's first day in service pulling passenger trains and I was lucky enough to be able to help record this historic event. It is wonderful to see what was once a heap of rusty metal brought back to life and she will be a great asset for the future of the railway.
The railway is now seeking funds to restore a sister loco. No.41313.
