The whole love story

These mugs, inspired by the names of areas in the shipping forecast reminded me of Andy White's song, The Whole Love Story, which samples the shipping forecast and makes the most of its lullaby qualities.

These days we have too much of stuff I think, too many tv shows we could watch, too many choices of coffee, texts and calls and emails and what's apps. I have thousands of songs on my iPod, and I can listen to just about everything on Spotify.

But back in the day, I was so pleased with myself to have a wee collection of five LPs, then ten, then 15.

Andy White's album was one of those, with 'The Whole Love Story' on it, and I listened to it over and over. Especially late at night. When I might have been listening to the shipping forecast.

I can't play my vinyl anymore. But I nipped on Amazon yesterday and ordered the CD. It arrives on Friday. Maybe the modern world isn't so bad after all.
