Professor Ian Tracey
The concert for the inauguration of the new Copeman Hart 4-76 organ in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall tonight was played by Professor Ian Tracey, organist at Liverpool Cathedral, who treated us to an hour and three-quarters of brilliance.
The final piece, Toccata in F by Widor, he played without the score. In the photo he is showing the score handed down through the succession of organists at Liverpool, from Henry Goss Custard (1915 - 1955) to Noel Rawsthorne (1955 - 1980) and thence to himself, indicating its well-used, tattered condition and missing notes (while his page-turner looks on with relief).
