But, then again . . . . .

Dead Lampposts.

More of our street lamps are being replaced with L.E.D.s; these are two of the old ones, one of which was planted by the side of our gate some thirty years ago. At the time, it was very close to one of our row of sycamore trees so, within a year, we were served with a statutory notice ordering us to prevent our tree from obscuring the light. It's the sort of thing authorities do.

For exampl:
We have had a gas meter obscured by a thorny hedge for the last twenty years,
At the time the gas meter was fitted, the pavements were relayed and the dropped kerb for our driveway was going to be out of alignment with it, fortunately I was able to have a friendly word with the workmen in time to have the error rectified and
About eight years ago, I came home from hospital to find that I couldn't get in through our front gate as a speed limit sign was obscuring it.

The complete list is, of course, tediously long; I wonder, does this happen everywhere?

I've just posted "Hundy Mundy" from the 25th.
