A floating castle

This is knight Lenny and his horse Wodan.

Knight Lenny decided some years ago he wanted a castle (he began collecting medieval items some 20 years ago). Unfortunately, there wwere no castles for sale at that time so he decided to build one himself. On the water. He rides his horse on the top deck, where he greets his audience. Wodan wants to stretch his legs on land he has to get into a specially made cage and by use of a special construction and some tackle work he can be moved from the ship to land.

Inside the castle there is a museum about medieval times, there is a room whith an inn, a carpenter's workshop, a blacksmith's shop and even a nicely furnished torture chamber. And stuffed animals everywhere. Inside it's difficult to tell you are on a ship, except for the floor to move gentle on the water.

We also visited the Stadskasteel Zaltbommel where there was an exposition about Fiep Westendorp, an illustrator famous for her illustrations in the children's books by Annie M.G. Smidt.
