Heading Home
from our 10 day road trip thru parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming (Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons) Idaho, Oregon, and back to Washington. This West is such a wonderful big wild landscape - there’s so much to comment on—-will hope to get the back blips together n the next couple days… (I’m totally tickled I did get Moose photos!!) This is taken (thru a dirty windshield) in mid/northeastern Oregon on the road to cross the Columbia River into Washington where this Mt St. Helens is located. All along this windy part of both states here are many many wind generators —
At one point on this road one can see 5 volcanic mountains at once. Volcanoes and earthquakes have played a major part of forming the impressive landscapes in these 5 states - the geology is fascinating…and the history (the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the formation of the National Parks, the Oregon Trail of covered wagons moving west in the mid 19th C.)
And when we hit Seattle at 2PM this afternoon, 2 noisy helicopters were constant over our neighborhood for the next 5 hours. There had been a terrible tragic accident between a “ride the ducks” vehicle and a bus on the Aurora Bridge. Awful.. foreign exchange students are dead, many injured.. A shock after all that wildness and wide open, quiet, space.
I ‘m really looking forward to seeing my blip friends that I have missed!.-although I probably won’t catch up with what I missed in the last 10 days —(it was a nice little break, I’ll admit. :-)) and now I’ve got to catch up on a little sleep—there’s nothing like one’s own bed!
