A smiling David Leggate, boating attendant today, mobile at the ready, is now counting down the hours to the end of the season on Monday when all activities at Strathaven Park close.

What does he do in the winter? "Plenty" was the immediate response before he listed an endless range of maintenance tasks.

Today the boating pond is active, there is tennis coaching at 5 pm and the cafe is open selling coffees and ice cream cones to name but two.
