With mountains like these

Long, hot day and a last game of Uno

There was such a lovely light this evening. I was struggling away with some photos and realised I had two minutes to get the best of it. I adjusted my eyes from the small screen to the real world. By the time I'd decided what I wanted, of course the best had gone, but here you can just make out the last of the sun on the petals.

A last supper with a view and another round of World Champion Uno rounded it off.

It had been a blisteringly hot day in Palma and we spent the morning in work moving between air conditioned meetings and the heat of the midday sun. Summer seems to have really settled in and the hot wind has subsided thank goodness. As long as there is water to dunk yourself in, everything is fine. The last day of school for myself and the boys tomorrow. Ben had a trip out walking to the Port and a trip on the tram back. Much talk and imaginations running wild, as there has been a tragedy yesterday with somebody thinking they could leap on as it was still moving. Gruesome and so rare an event, but it left a chill in the otherwise warm air.

Life will change again this next week, with various events meaning an uncertainty is in the air. As we watched the geckos taking their chances under the wall lights, waiting for a passing moth, it was a reminder how important it is to seize the day and make the best of everything. It's not always easy, but there's always a way in the Midsummer madness.
