Ladies Trip to Malaga

A back blip from yesterday.

A trip to Malaga organised by the Ladies Association of Almerimar of which I am a member.

60 ladies and 2 men(!) set off at 7.30 from Almerimar with a stop near Nerja for breakfast.   The weather was waking up nicely by this time and we knew we were in for a good day.

On to Malaga and to a Museum which is hosting an exhibition of Russian Art from St Petersburg's State Museum - 100 exhibits tracing the evolution of Russian painting from icons to mid 20th century works.   I liked the older oil paintings but not too keen on the modern ones depicting the oppressed workers or the modernistic ones.   Photos not good so none posted!   We could have spent longer but had a schedule to keep to!

The coach took us then to the Castillo de Gibralfaro up a winding road high on the hill overlooking Malaga City and Port.

The Castle was built in the 14th century to protect the Alcazaba in the foothills below.    A wander round the Castle through the gardens and then down the long winding road down into the city.   No time to go to the exhibitions inside unfortunately.

At the bottom are the ruins of the Alcazaba and an excavated Roman Theatre.

Time now for a leisurely lunch of salad, aubergines with honey, mixed fried fish and bread, with beer or wine.   A lot of laughter and chat in our group of 16 or so.   Off again into the centre to find somewhere for coffee.

Back to the coach and then to the Ancient Botanical Gardens which had of course once been an estate.   Owned now by the Malaga Council it is a visitor centre and custodian of ancient trees and plants.

Water Lily;  Waterfall;  Buddleia Arbour Dining Area;  Banana tree with flower and fruit;   Odd Tree which I cannot remember the name of - yet!

Home at 10.15 - a lovely day had by all.

Definitely worth a few days visit to Malaga.   A lovely City.
