Young Goldfinch Sitting on a Sunflower
The sunflowers at the Arboretum, which I have been visiting regularly and enjoying immensely, have begun to go to seed. And you know what that means. The birds are starting to come by to eat them!
The air at the Arboretum is full of the sounds of juvenile goldfinches begging. The situation is almost comical. There sits the young goldfinch on a sunflower, surrounded by food, but crying to be fed. Don't cry, little one! Mama (or Daddy?) will be by soon to help you find some food.
The tune to accompany this image is one of my favorite songs about crying: Madonna, with Don't Cry For Me, Argentina. I'm including two versions: here's the first one, and here's the second one (live).
