Russia Day 12 - Peter and Paul Fortress

This fortress was the original site of the city of St Petersburg. The cathedral with its high spire dominates the fortress and houses the tombs of the Romanovs who ruled Russia before the Revolution . Peter the Great and Catherine the Great are buried here .
