Times Of My Life

By CarolB

We brought home some 'typical' Spanish souvenirs for the kids from our holiday.  Ida got a flamenco dress, with fan and hair accessory to match.  Arlo got a sombrero, with a t-shirt and a friendship bracelet.

I often fool around with them, getting them to perform outlandish tasks, while I pretend to be a TV interviewer, talking to them about how well it all went.  One of my favourites is when they are Don Carlos and Carmelita, the Amazing Spanish Dancing Duo aged Under 10.  They love it too, and get right into the role-play.

This morning we got into the zone, and they were in costume while I  You-Tubed 'Speedy Gonzales' - the song.  I let them both have a little bit of screen-time too; Arlo played games on a Maths website on the laptop, and Ida did drawing and painting on CBeebies on the Hudl.

After that, they settled down to watch an old Shirley Temple movie on the telly, before we headed off into the town to meet Auntie Marion and Uncle Tom.

We went to the park in Perth, the South Inch, and they had a ball for a couple of hours.  A wee shopping trip to get some new slippers and wellies, and then home for pizza as requested earlier in the day.

After supper they asked if they could watch Strictly Come Dancing before bed, and I was delighted to oblige.  G generally wants to watch the bilge that is called X-Factor, so it was great to be able to overrule him based on numbers!

Teeth cleaned, faces washed, story told, and then a chorus of Ally Bally and My Bonny Lies Over The Ocean, and they were out like lights!

Tomorrow is another day.  Happy weekend blipmates.
