These are local authority houses for the elderly.  About 1 month ago the local authority removed the rose hip hedging from the front and sides of the gardens. I'm not sure why they removed them - although the front doors of the houses were a little obscured - or why they have not yet been replaced with other plants.  This family obviously had erected a gate at the side of the house which has been left. 
I took this with my phone when I was walking and I've not been able to  edit it. I don't know why as I've always been able to do so previously.
