Bumbling about on a Sunday afternoon

How doth the little busy bee
Improve each shining hour,
And gather honey all the day
From every opening flower!

What a lovely day it has been. Mr L is out mowing the grass and I finally found my head up from all the post-holiday chores, so I went out to find a Blip.

The Rosa rugosa got off to a late start this year but seem to be making up for it now and we have a bumper crop of hips. Sadly I have been too busy to harvest them and the birds have beaten me to it - but there are plenty to ripen yet. The roses are also throwing a lot of late blooms and the warmth of today's sunshine has made them smell sweet. I wish we had smelly vision - the heady combination of roses, mown grass all with the background tang of the sea is quite wonderful.

My photo was bombed by a busy bumblebee so I did my best to crop it down and give him a chance to be seen. That pollen sack looks well-loaded!

The extra pic was going to be the main pic because I like it but the bee did his thing and demanded attention,so - what can one do? The Honesty is well over and even turning silver now but I love the way that the sun shining through the seed pods gives a stained glass appearance. It's lovely.
