Geocaching
Anyone ever heard of geocaching? I have only just heard of this myself recently.
So, it's rather fascinating. Basically, in very simple terms, you're following sets of map coordinates, to find a hidden something or other. You can leave items too for the next person to find. You can plot your find in the geocaching app :)
The girls and I decided to do this locally today seeing as it's a nice sunny day.
I took them and of course, my camera. We had filled a little bag with small items that we could leave as 'treasure' and set off.......
Can't go wrong with a set of coordinates can you.........
Well........
We got to within 1m of where the damn thing was supposed to be. could not find it!!!
We hunted around for a while and even asked a random dog walker, who was looking at us strangely, if he'd ever heard of geocaching. Of course he hadn't so I felt the need to explain to him why we were running around in circles looking like we'd lost the Crown Jewels ......
So because we couldn't find the 1st one, the kids quickly lost interest and started mumping and moaning!
Home time then.....
Back home, I discovered a vital clue that I hadn't thought to check before we left.
'Around gatepost hidden under rocks'
really??? We have to fumble through jaggy nettles and lift rocks n stuff???
I mean, I know it's supposed to be hidden, but should I take a flippin spade with me next time???
:)
Going back out to try again tomorrow
