Last of the summer wine..
I was up with the lark this morning.. it was dark, it was cold and it was misty.... but it was worth it to visit the gorgeously autumnally coloured Holmfirth Vineyards. Who'd have thought that Yorkshire does home grown wine... well it does... and it does it very well.. in gorgeous countryside (of course).
An inspirational tour, by a jovial guide who really should have been on the stand up circuit. The vineyard is the creation of a young couple, he was a home furnishings designer for next, his wife worked in the Formula One scene... they decided to quit the stress of the day jobs and came home to Holmfirth.. with no prior knowledge of running a vineyard. Several years later they have 2 young children, a beautiful converted farm and barn, a successful vineyard and winery, a restaurant and eco self catering apartments too. Wow.... living the dream!
It's the highest vineyard in the UK and the early morning mist wafted around us like satin ribbons... and when the sun came out, the glow of the autumnal coloured leaves and grapes was beautiful.. as was the view over the valley.
A fabulous day.. with fabulous company....thank you 60plus and Mr 60p..... my only dilemma this evening is whether to have a glass of white.. rose... or red! :)
