Roman Porta Nigra in Trier

From five nights in a tiny, very basic room in an Ibis hotel in Mainz ... to the first of two nights in a luxury room in Trier. To round off our Ruby Wedding Trip (as I call it) or Visiting Roman Sites in Germania (as Mr PP calls it), the boat has been pushed out. Our window looks out straight on to the ancient Roman gate. We looked around this afternoon in warm, bright sunshine. Can't get over the age and size of it. And it was only one small part of the whole Roman city Augusta Treverorum AKA Trier.

Oh, and I do like photographing decorative drain covers, so I've added that to my collage!
