Locust Borer

It was a toss-up as to which photo to post today.   I chose this one because it is different, and I have posted lots of bees on other days. (see extra).   I spent part of the day at the Aquatic Gardens and what a treat it was.  I got my fix of egrets, turtles, wildflowers, insects and incredible seedheads.  I was amazed to see that this colorful bug was actually quite hairy.  Who knew? 

This was taken with the 70-400 mm lens, with the Canon 500D close-up lens attached, which allows me to move in closer.  The focal plane is very narrow, but I have been pleased with some of the shots.  

The only difficult part of the day was wearing shoes and socks, which didn't agree well with my itchy feet and legs.
