Beautiful September
Frogitat, Hogitat and a lost cat.
Something special in the rarity of sharing a cup of tea outside early on a Sunday morning with someone when all the world around you is still fast asleep...it's a like a secret and a burden shared...doesn't happen often, but today it did.....until the world around gets woken up by a dog's squeaky toy that is.
The reality is usually Dave eeking out more sleep time upstairs while little me - in a gorilla onesie, armed with a torch and accessorised with deranged bed head and a small plastic bag - looks for fresh dog poo before the puppy eats it. Sam calls them "Max's home made snacks". That cracked me up. We think he's weaned himself off the urge now.
Today we were joined by Eve. We did the Inverurie Garden Centre Sunday lunch thing and got a home for the hedgehogs, a home for the frogs and toads, engaged in a superfluous and completely unnecessary splurge on chew toys and treats for the cat and dog and even topped up on more bird food. We forgot to get a shop in for the humans. That happens often. We did find non alcoholic Disney Princess champagne for kids. This officially marks the end of the enlightened world. What the hell is that all about, seriously chavtastic. So of course I bought one. Just so Eve could give said item to her mum, so she too could have the same reaction as we did. Or maybe she thinks we were serious and total weirdos. The latter's a given.
Back to the day itself. It was truly one to get lost in. Endless September bounty of blue sky. I spent over 5 hours tackling the jungle that is the backie, cutting back and strimming, mowing and clearing, I've all but re-carpeted the compost areas in the forest. Not exerted myself to that extent since my one and only drunken trip to Club Tropicanna many years ago. Today was the kidnd of day that just begs for a gardening triumphs, so much so that I didn't want to let the darkness beat me, Or the fact that Max needed me to throw his ball every minute, I just wanted to keep going and going as dusk fell.
Thumper did come back tonight. Relief all round. He's now in his favourite place, on Sam's bed, in the lap of luxury, dreaming still of that pesky dog.
