Parc du Cinquantenaire
A gorgeous Autumn morning and on my walk to Rue Belliard for today's meeting on the EU Birds and Habitats directives, I stopped at the Parc du Cinquantenaire or Jubelpark. It is a large park near the EU quarter.
Most buildings, which are part of a U-shaped complex of buildings, were commissioned by the Belgian Government for the 1880 National Exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Belgian independence.
More structures were added over the years with the triumphal arch (pictured) being added in 1905.
