And the sun goes down....
Busy one today. First off took 3 fat cows and a bull to the market at St Boswells. Managed to drive with 1 1/2 hands ok,but took a bit of juggling to wash the trailer out with my right hand.
Back home and took the header off our combine and moved everything next door. Thought it had gone quiet going up the farm road, only to discover the header trailer had come unhitched and landed in a heap. Also one of the tyres had had a blow out.
Eventually got to the field of oats and set everything up. Wee brother cut twice round the field when the bearings for the table auger collapsed.
On the up side, the contractor arrived to cut the barley down the road. By tonight they had knocked down 36 acres.
I hitched up the square baler(keeping fingers well away this time) and started to bale the field we cut on Saturday. A shortage of tractors so I had to use the old Ford 4600. It is a 1978 vintage. If you add the age of the tractor, baler ,sledge and the driver you get a grand total of 157 ! The youngest thing there was the collie dog !
A glorious sun set tonight. Not bad for nearly October
