Taganga & Minca
After Cartagena we had a chilled out few days in Taganga along with the three German girls. Taganga itself isn't overly impressive as a village but our hostel was pretty nice with a great pool and their very own pet tortoise who roams around the garden. We all did a day trip to a recommended beach nearby but it was a little overcrowded.
The nights here have been good fun because we've gone down to the restaurants along the beach where there's been a great atmosphere for the Copa America matches, including the Colombia vs Brazil game where they celebrated the draw like a victory!
The last few days in Minca have been lovely, staying in an awesome hostel with a great vibe. Minca itself is a small town high up in the mountains, with lots of nearby attractions to walk to, including a really nice coffee plantation, some natural pools and some waterfalls. Our hostel Casa de Loma has really made the few days and although you've to climb over 200 steps just to get to it, the three of us all agree that it's well worth it!
There is a great view of the city of Santa Marta below and stunning sunsets each night. Apart from our trip to the coffee plantation and learning about the different processes involved in the making of the world renowned café Colombia or hiking to the water falls and pools, we've spent our time lying in the various hammocks around the hostel trying not to nod off, reading or playing cards. Each evening we venture down the 200 steps to the small town to watch Copa America games or feast on a menu del dia at Alan's new favourite restaurant, 'Casa Cristi'!
We're heading down to Santa Marta today for the night, before flying to Medellin in the morning. Hopefully if all timing goes to plan, our mate from home, Duffy, will be arriving there at the same time (albeit after a more gruelling trip from Australia and involving a few stopovers) and the three amigos will become the fantastic four for the next few weeks!!! Or until the two lads get tired of travelling with a couple or Lou gets fed up of Copa America talk.
