Protea

This is where my profound ignorance of plants and gardens lets me down. This beautiful thing was growing up near the entrance to Steve's property. I think it may be a member of the grevillea family and might just be a native ... or else it might be a protea of some kind, in which case it could be an African exotic. Does anyone know? Anyway the post nearby had an interesting pattern on it (see extras). I also went for a brief walk up the road and saw a wonderful sign, which elegantly sums up country life to my mind. 

Tomorrow (i.e. 25th Sept), I fly back to Sydney to meet Norma for a few days in the city. Steve and Julia were wonderful hosts. I mustn't allow so much time to elapse in future before seeing them again.
