Foxgloves
We have just had a terrific downpour in the village and now all the flowers are trying to hold their heads up despite the additional weight of the raindrops. All their colours look particularly vibrant as the sun is now shining.
There is always such a lovely fresh smell in the garden after the rain and it reminds me of many years ago when I bought a perfume called 'After the Rain'. I wore it in the evening as we were going out and asked Bill what he thought of it. I told him what it was called and he said it smelled like a compost heap. Not quite the reaction I was seeking but he has never been one for perfume of any sort. I still loved it ...
I have been really excited all day today as Jenny is taking part in the Oympic Opening Ceremony and has been given two guest tickets for the dress rehearsal a couple of days before the opening. Matthew and I will be going and I am sure it will be a fantastic evening. I plan to take loads of photos.
