Raindrops...and a hummie!
I see no point in waiting as I am unlikely to get something I like better today - after all, what's better than a hummingbird on the last day of September, after a hard rain? I was actually a little surprised that this little gal was still here this morning as I kind of expected her to leave at first light. But maybe she's waiting out the current weather system. In any event, she's been spending her time pretty evenly between the feeder and the flowers, with rests in between on the clothesline.
Dismal day, but still unseasonably warm with temps in the mid-70's. Lots of birds in the trees around our property this morning - warblers, waxwings, sparrows, robins, jays and several flycatchers. Hard to ID some of the smaller birds as they are way high up in the trees. Lots of insects flying, so a lot of the birds were gleaning them in flight which is always fascinating to watch.
A quick trip through the garden with the macro lens yielded a few interesting things, but nothing to trump a hummingbird. If you'd like to see three other shots from this morning, have a look at Flickr, starting HERE - hoverfly, very wet bumble bee, and a squirrel building a nest.
Off to lunch with a friend then need to run a couple of errands in town. While dodging rainstorms... Temps are supposed to plummet this afternoon so this may be the last of shorts and t-shirts for a while.
Toodles...
