And today's mystery object

Refuse to mention the rain, absolutely definitely will not mention the antideluvian proportions of wet stuff falling from the sky today. Nope, definitely not, that would be giving in to the wet summer blues. So instead of pictures of more dripping things, I present (in a poor picture I know) today's mystery object, found at my favourite antiques emporium.

Can you guess? Nope me neither and the label - antique1930s Roger's Vitalator with violet wand left me none the wiser but intrigued! Back home, a quick search of tinterweb brought up Quack medical treatment! RESULT!!!!!!!

Here is a snippet from one page....
The Worlds Greatest Rejuvenator Rogers Violet Ray Vitalator No. 8702 High Frequency Treatment 1930's Quack Medical Violet Ray Machine in Oak Cabinet Glass Electrodes Manufactured by Ideal Home Electrical Appliances, Ltd. London Violet ray devices first became popular in the early 1900s. These instruments were originally sold as medical devices that claimed to be useful in treating various skin conditions and for the minor relief of pain. The number of medical cures the violet wands were said to provide included insomnia, asthma, catarrh, gout, anemia, piles and even female hysteria

Really tempted, that wand might be useful in changing the weather, or dealing with my rain induced hysteria!
