Gloucester and Rockport

Rockport was a quaint little town with many craft shops and buildings of all shapes, colour and sizes in the narrow streets near the harbour. There were lovely views between the shops of the harbour and the sea. It was so attractive I didn't notice all the overhead cables and wires until I was reviewing my photos.
Gloucester was America's main fishing port and many houses have a 'widows walk'. It is a balcony round the top floor of the house where wives watched and waited for the returning fishing boats. Many men were lost at sea resulting in the name of the balcony. The statue is a memorial to all who died at sea.
