The final fill...
Dry again- beginning to worry !
Went to check the cattle down the road and moved the bulling heifers onto a fresh field. Managed to get the nurse to check my stitches and change the bandage. She reckons they can come out next Tuesday.
Went away to bale straw and left one combine cutting barley and one cutting oats. Getting on fine until the duckbill for wrapping the net round the bale stopped working. Called the dealer who sent Biff out to fit an expensive looking new electric motor and ram.Job done !
Combines going all over today. The extra shows a neighbour coming along the road, not a lot of spare room.
When I got back home the sparky was here with the repaired grain dryer fan.
That is the combining finished tonight. The most painful part was filling the contractor's machine with diesel before he left-594 litres to be exact. That works out at 6.4 litres/acre or £2.88/acre for the fuel alone. So the next time you fill your car ,think how lucky you are !
