Welcoming October!

Dear Diary,

Well, September sure went out with a bang!  Terrible flooding in parts of Maine from the torrential downpours and sporadic power outages as well.  I had to re-schedule Emerson's vet visit until next week.  I was not venturing out!

Today the winds are still stiff but the rain has stopped so it is back to normal.  Hopefully, the hurricane that is barreling up the coast will not make it all the way to Maine and I pray those it does touch will not suffer too much.  We are at the mercy of Mother Nature and great storms are very humbling.  It makes us fully understand that we are not in control all the time...some things are out of our hands.

Br. Cadfael's words are so telling.  It truly is a small step between the ordinary and the miraculous.  Just watching the forests transform from their summer green to their autumn splendor is a miraculous event.  Oh, I know the scientific explanation will enough but I choose to see it as one of those tiny miracles of life that happen every day and leave it at that.
