With wings
When Donald Duck traded his wings for arms, was he trading up or trading down? --Doug Coupland
When Liza and I arrived at the pond at Laurelhurst Park this morning, we encountered this diverse group of ducks huddled together taking a siesta. (Did you know a group of ducks is called a badelynge, bunch, brace, flock, paddling, raft or team?) They were alert when we got close but didn't move from their spot at the edge of the pond. Liza wanted to chase them, or run from them, she wasn't sure which, but I kept her on a short leash. I thought it interesting that there were five ducks and five different breeds.
I love the black crested Cayuga duck (the one with the odd top notch); I've seen them here before. Cayugas are domesticated ducks, but this one must have slipped away from captivity. He seemed to be in charge of the bunch/team/raft.
I also photographed this beautiful mallard preening his wings. And got a surprisingly clear shot of a crow in a tree, usually these aren't so focused, what with branches and the dark bird.
Thus satisfying Missymoo's challenge for the day, With Wings.
