Amanita or Shaggy Parasol?

Basil and I returned to Calke Abbey early this morning in dense fog. Photography results were somewhat desultory but we did have a good walk and we came across this statuesque Amanita which must have been almost 30 cm across.

Naturally we concluded with a visit to the restaurant where I was able to order a gluten free bacon roll and one of those large National Trust ginger biscuits. Basil was rewarded with two treat sticks.

Glorious afternoon outside now that the fog has burnt off. Studio sesson in Nottingham tonight. Will probably take Basil with me as Len is going out too. Basil might come in useful as a prop.
