Peace Pagoda
We didn't really want to be around when the vet came to 'see to' the horse in the field next to us, so went for a walk round one of the lakes in town. Always a good walk with plenty of wildfowl to see and plenty of fresh air only slightly spoiled by the constant hum of traffic on the motorway only a few hundred yards away. Then on to our local garden centre where the Christmas grotto was being constructed; it's going to make my tatty bit of tinsel blipped yesterday look sorry for itself.
The Peace Pagoda shown here was built by the lake by the monks and nuns of the Nipponzan Myohoji as a symbol of world brotherhood and inaugurated on 21st September 1980. There are a thousand cherry trees and cedars planted on the hill around it, a gift from the Japanese town of Yoshino.
