How to capture enough daylight on stormy days

The purple shamrock is clearly enjoying the weather and grows new leaves and flowers like crazy! He got a bit grumpy about reduced light though and as you can see he started turning his leaves almost into cones during the day to get as much light as he can. Clever beast.
