Baddesley Clinton dahlias

The house was shut - they are replacing the slabs on the bridge and, of course, as this is the only way over the moat, there was no way in.

But that was no problem.  The spectacle of their Dahlia bed - long, vibrant, bristling with butterflies and shining in the sun - was breath-taking. My facebook friends will be drowned in the number of photos I couldn't resist taking.

My friend has had a few worries lately.  She firmly announced that a day out in such beauty is good for the soul - and she felt happy.
