An ancient waterway!

This is the Fossdyke which is thought to be the oldest canal in England still in use today. Roman engineers dug this canal almost 2000 years ago to link the river Trent at Torksey to the river Witham at Lincoln and thereby to the sea at Boston.

A busy day! We took P to Newark to catch the train to Heathrow, did the food shopping, home for a while, back to Newark to collect D from the train station, then collected the girls as they are staying over tonight. I took this picture as D & I did a tour of the village whilst walking the girls.
