Walled off

The sections of the Berlin Wall that remain look pretty innocuous now, especially on a sunny day. The decaying watchtowers and floodlights look fairly pathetic and are only a shadow of the former terrifying presence they must have been during the communist era.

Today was spent exploring Berlin by bike. It's a great cycling city, although I may not say the same during the bitter winter. What is refreshing about cycling here compared to Cambodia or the UK is that use of vehicles happens competently and without grave danger, and there is a general acceptance and lack of tutting when pedestrians and cyclists pass near each other on paths.
