First Fire of the Season
Dear Diary,
We still haven't had the first frost but mornings are quite chilly so it is time for the first fire! Emerson loves to sit in front of it snuggled up to my latest edition of National Geographic magazine. This month the cover title is "Almost Human" and I thought that was very appropriate. Emerson seems almost human to me at times.
The start of every season brings a string of "firsts". First fire, first frost, first red leaf...we mark our days by these firsts. It is a way to transition into another way of being. October is a threshold month for me and, as such, it is a favorite. Here we let go of what was and welcome what is.
I was so pleased to see that we weren't going to be "welcoming" Hurricane Joaquin to the North East. With the fair starting tomorrow it would not be a good thing. We are all breathing a sigh of relief.
